Skarbiec in a fix, key personnel resign

Investment fund house Skarbiec TFI saw its chief investment officer Tomasz Stadnik as well as deputy CIOs Lukasz Stelmasiak and Jacek Babinski submit their resignations the company, individuals familiar with the matter told PAP.

Resignations follow word that housing developer Murapol, which purchased a 33% stake in Skarbiec, is seeking supervisory board representation and speaks openly of its hope to add various real estate funds to the Skarbiec profile.

Stadnik, in turn, has been designing Skarbiec in large part as a top-down global macro strategy fund group.

Murapol is believed to have outbid an unspecified group of Skarbiec managers for an MBO takeover offer of a leading Skarbiec stake which was controlled by PE firm Enterprise Investors.

Stadnik joined Skarbiec in September 2016 after having worked as CEO of PZU TFI, a unit of large-cap insurer PZU, from July 2015 and to late May 2016.

Stelmasiak went with Stadnik to join Skarbiec.

Babinski, who was covering equity and mixed-asset funds, joined Skarbiec in October 2016 a long run as risk manager, portfolio manager and analyst at the Metlife OFE pension fund.
