PKN Orlen in an exciting partnership agreement with the Lithuanian National Railway

Fuel large-cap group PKN Orlen's Lithuanian unit Orlen Lietuva will sign a partnership agreement with Lithuanian national railway operator Lietuvos gelezinkeliai (LG) ending their long-term dispute over transport rates, the Lithuanian government chancellery announced on Tuesday.

According to BNS agency findings, Orlen will pay slightly lower rates in years 2017-2023 than it would result from the current contract. The rates, however, will be slightly higher than the current ones. At the same time, sides reportedly agreed to drop all court and arbitration proceedings.

Orlen Lietuva has long been paying much higher railway transport rates than the competition following disassembly of a 19 km railway route to Latvian city of Renge in 2008. The ensuing dispute between Orlen and LG went into arbitration in December 2014.
